Apple: employees will return to the office in September and follow the hybrid work model
Recently, Apple informed its staff of the new arrangements the company has made regarding their return to the office starting the week of September 5. In all, they must be on Apple premises three times a week and otherwise have the option of working remotely twice a week.
The news affects all Santa Clara Bay employees at this time, other regions will have to wait shortly for their return to the office. Recall that the company’s employees, like so many other companies, have been working from home since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apple’s new arrangements therefore mark employees’ smooth return to the office as well as the much-delayed implementation of the hybrid working model.
The hybrid working pilot project
It’s been a while since the hybrid working model was announced, it was in June 2021. Following this, several employees protested. But the company delayed this return to the office because of the coronavirus, a move that appeased the protests.
It is since this announcement in June that Apple had planned that employees return to work establishments three days a week. The three days mentioned at that time were Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The difference with the current situation concerns precisely these days. Santa Clara employees are encouraged to return to the office beginning Sept. 5 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and day three is to be determined based on individual shifts.
Memos from Tim Cook and Craig Federighi
To spread the news, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, and Craig Federighi, SVP of Software Engineering, sent memos to the staff address. The memos contained information about the changes made to the first phase of the hybrid working pilot project launch, its timing and the reasons for rolling out this project.
The memos also thanked the employees for their efforts during those years that were considered “truly challenging.” Furthermore, they were inviting anyone who has not yet done so to get vaccinated or else get a booster as the company is well on its way to navigating the pandemic as it updates with this return to the office safety protocols but above all health.
