Apple’s self-repair program extends to MacBook M1s
Apple is expanding its DIY repair program. This addition is going to include MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops with the M1 chip. Once the program officially opens in the very near future, you will be able to purchase genuine parts for the 2020 M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 2021 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro M1. These different parts are available from Apple’s self-service repair shop. You could also repair your appliances there.
A sequel to Apple’s repair program
This is an extension of the repair program launched by Apple earlier this year. This program initially included parts for the iPhone 12 and 13, such as the screen, battery, and camera. While the program is currently only available in the United States, Apple plans to offer it to countries in Europe later. In the near but still uncertain future, the firm also plans to offer it to many countries around the world.
Apple offers several MacBook components. For starters, these different components will include the display, top case with battery, Touch ID, and trackpad, among others. According to TechCrunch, the price of coins varies widely. Indeed, it can cost $5 (5.04 euros) for the screws, $29 (29.23 euros) for the speakers and around $580 (584.61 euros) for the entire motherboard assembly. . However, Apple said it plans to expand repair types in the future.
How does Apple’s repair program work?
The firm said it will expand the program to other Mac models. However, this will be done a little “later this year”. The models that are affected are the M2 MacBook Air, the iMac or the Mac Studio Display. Alternatively, if you don’t want to buy the tools needed to complete the repair, Apple says you can rent a kit for $49. Apple’s press release doesn’t go into the details of the process.
