Lovelace: Nvidia to announce GPU architecture in September
Nvidia, the American company specializing in the design of graphics processors, graphics cards and graphics chips for PCs and game consoles, has been working for months on its new GPU architecture. This technical base called “Lovelace” will be used on the brand’s next graphics cards, namely the RTX 4070, 4080 and 4090. Rumors say that Lovelace will land with a 60% increase in the base frequency.
During a conference call with shareholders, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, claimed that the presentation of the new Lovelace architecture could take place at G-TAC 2022. He said: “ I look forward to next month’s G-TAC conference, where we’ll share new advances in RTX reimagining 3D graphics in games, continued breakthroughs in AI, and building the metaverse, the next evolution of the internet. “.

RTX-series GPUs aren’t coming anytime soon
“Ampere” is the current GPU architecture and powers Nvidia’s RTX 30-series GPUs. The American company first unveiled its Ampere architecture for data centers, before launching its RTX 30-series cards for consumers later. Indeed, there is always a delay between an architecture announcement and the launch of a consumer GPU.
In other words, we’re going to have to wait to see RTX 40-series GPUs hit the market. That doesn’t mean we should wait for months though because with the RTX 20 series, the lag between architecture announcement and GPU launch was only a week.
Very few requests at the moment
It turns out that Nvidia built too many GPUs, which forced it to adjust retail prices due to excess inventory. Eh yes ! Much to everyone’s surprise, the 30-series RTX cards have appeared at MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) after years of prices being doubled or tripled by resellers.
It is mainly because of the crypto crash that the demand for GPUs is falling. Thus, Nvidia plans to make the RTX 30 and 40 coexist because it still has to sell its large stock of Ampere cards. In any case, gamers are delighted to acquire an RTX 30 at a lower cost.
