The European Safety Agency gives five stars to the Tesla Model Y

Tesla would be close to perfection with its fourth electric car, the “Tesla Model Y”. This is a 100% electric SUV available since 2019. In fact, the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) awarded the Model Y top marks in the safety tests it carried out. . The SUV is among the cars that have earned 5 stars, namely Genesis GV60, ORA Funky Cat, WEY Coffee 01 as well as China’s Great Wall Motor Campagny.

Tesla has shown that nothing but the best is good enough for them, and we hope to see them continue to aspire to that goal in the future. explained Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, in a press release. Thus, the Tesla Model Y would ensure the safety of its passengers, especially since the test protocol has been reworked and is much stricter than before.

Very strict safety assessments

Euro NCAP assesses four areas, namely the vehicle’s ability to protect adults, its ability to protect children, the protection it provides to vulnerable road users (cyclists, pedestrians, etc.) as well as its functions security assistance. And the Tesla Model Y passed all stages with flying colors, for example in the “adult protection” category, it scored 97%.

As for the safety assistance category, it received a mark of 98%. Be aware that the adult category is determined by a series of frontal, lateral and rear whiplash tests as well as the analysis of other parameters such as rescue, extrication. Safety aid assesses the ability to avoid collisions, reduce injuries, and more.

NHTSA also gives top marks to Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y also received 5 stars in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was pleased with the safety the model offers. Moreover, the evaluation method is a little different.

NHTSA rates cars on a variety of crash test parameters, including frontal crashes, side crashes and rollover scenarios. It does not test the pedestrian and cyclist safety category and driver assistance technology.
